Working for Pembina means working safely.Overview:Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Transmission Business Unit, (TBU) part of Pembina's Pipeline Division is actively hiring a Manager, Operations Engineering.Reporting to the Director Operations, the Manager utilizes their technical and business acumen to initiate, lead and support the delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations engineering and capital project execution results. The primary responsibilities, deliveries and accountabilities.Pembina's Transmission Pipeline assets have developed through the strategic acquisition of key natural gas, ethane and condensate transportation infrastructure assets, positioned in some of the most prolific gas producing regions in western Canada and the United States. Pembina's Transmission Pipelines provide customers with access to premium markets primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts through long-haul pipelines.Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide leadership for operations engineering and sustaining capital project execution teams to deliver organized and efficient outcomes and produce excellent operational, safety and financial results;
  • Support the coordination of engineering, projects and communication between Operations, Commercial and Finance/Accounting functional groups and be able to communicate this effectively to both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Actively participate in the development of Pembina's safety culture where employees, public and environmental impacts are eliminated or mitigated by ensuring appropriate programs and processes are in place;
  • Support the development and implementation of internal systems and controls to promote an organizational culture to ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective operation of facility and pipeline assets;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of business unit pipeline and facility related technology, regulatory requirements, engineering, construction practices, and project control systems, guidelines and standards;
  • Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with our key vendors;
  • Manage scope, schedule and cost while maintaining accountability throughout the delivery of engineering activities and sustaining capital projects;
  • Review and approve project proposals from Engineering, Operations and Business Development;
  • Ensuring department compliance with Management of Change (MOC) procedures, Process Hazard Assessment (PHA) and Engineering Specifications;
  • Enhance prioritization and understanding of all variable and discretionary spending and review and analyze opportunities for capital budget and operating budget cost reductions;
  • Ensure effective communication of outage plans with coordinators and seek opportunities to eliminate or minimize companywide outages;
  • Understand the KPI's and metrics of BU assets to ensure profitable decision making and review and contribute to proposals from Engineering, Operations, Commercial and Business Development groups;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, controls, and procedures;
  • Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement and employee engagement;
  • Provide personnel career development, mentorship and supervision to professional engineering and technical staff; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates will have 15+ years of experience with a combination of operations, engineering or project execution in a facility and pipeline environment with a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience managing and mentoring staff;
  • All candidates must possess an Engineering Degree, or equivalent in an engineering discipline, and have a solid understanding of applicable code, regulations and standards related to pipeline and facility construction, operations and maintenance and requirements to perform engineering in Alberta and BC, etc;
  • Must be highly analytical in identifying and solving issues in operating pipelines and facilities to direct engineering and project execution;
  • Possess strong business and financial acumen and have excellent communication skills maintaining strong internal and external relationships;
  • Energetic, resilient, collaborative, and goal oriented; and
  • Commitment to continuously act in an environmentally and socially conscientious manner to maintain the dependability, integrity, and safety of Pembina's assets, operations, work sites and systems.
