Sun Life (\xe2\x80\x9cSL\xe2\x80\x9d) has implemented an integrated Operational Risk Management Framework to effectively identify, assess, measure, mitigate, monitor and report its operational risks; and to provide business management and the board with a forward-looking and consistent view of operational risk exposures across the enterprise.

About the Job

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Operational Risk Management, as part of a dynamic and resourceful team, the Operational Risk Analyst will support Sun Life\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Risk Management Framework (\xe2\x80\x9cORMF\xe2\x80\x9d). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Contribute to Operational Risk measurement/monitoring methodology and tools, analysis and reporting (e. g. Operational Risk Events, Risk and Control Self-Assessments (\xe2\x80\x9cRCSA\xe2\x80\x9d), and Key Risk Indicators (\xe2\x80\x9cKRIs\xe2\x80\x9d), Operational Risk Taxonomy, Management and Risk Committee Reporting, among others);

Maintaining Operational Risk Management data, tools and resources, analyzing trends and reporting, developing/maintaining various team and stakeholder procedures and access protocols to various systems/tools/files (eg. in SharePoint and Archer), and;

Support the broader Corporate Operational Risk Management team in managing various procedures, communications and meetings, and assisting in quarter-end analysis and reporting processes, as needed.

What will you do?

Support enterprise-wide process for the collection of operational risk loss events, including maintaining operating procedures, and preparing risk data for quarterly and ad-hoc internal and external reporting, ensuring integrity of information presented;

Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the enterprise-wide operational risk tools. Work with the Manager to ensure continued alignment of the tools with other operational risk processes (updates for policy changes, taxonomy changes, new Sun Life reporting structures);

Support 2LOD challenge of stakeholder use of ORM tools, risk acceptances and reporting results;

Maintain appropriate stakeholder access to CORM\xe2\x80\x99s regular meetings, mailings, SharePoint sites and tools, ensuring consistent, accurate and timely information sharing;

Maintain centralized documentation and records for the Operational Risk Management program, including Global Source, Archer and Tableau Online documents/links, periodic Shareoint backups, and annual archiving and disposition of CORM SharePoint files/folders;

Some overtime during peak periods may be required.

What do you need to succeed?

General knowledge of risk management principles and practices

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience

Adaptable, as needs of business change, exhibiting flexibility and good judgment in prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines

Communicates effectively with internal peers and leaders, using diplomacy and tact to problem solve and build consensus.

Works independently, and with peers, to successfully contribute to departmental goals.

Solid analytical skills required to support review of data, reporting evaluation and design

Advanced design/maintenance of SharePoint Online collaboration tools and reporting/analytics software (eg. MS Excel, Tableau, Archer)

Proficiency in MS Office applications (including MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Results oriented, driving for continuous improvement and efficiencies in department procedures and processes

3+ years professional experience in major financial institution with global operations

Assets:

Experience in Operational Risk Management or related field

Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data

Familiarity with control frameworks and audit processes

Familiarity with Sun Life\xe2\x80\x99s global insurance and financial services businesses or experience in a large global organization with multiple divisions and lines of business

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
