Our Team

The Creighton Mine Team is integral to the success of the Sudbury operation in becoming a safe, predictable, and reliable producer. Working collaboratively with multiple Operations, Maintenance and Support groups, the Operational Readiness Manager will provide the leadership required to meet the business needs of the mine safely and efficiently.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Operational Readiness Manager to join our team at Creighton Mine in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

The incumbent will participate in the project planning and will be the key lead on executing the Operational Readiness activities with the guiding principles of accelerating ore production. The incumbent will carefully consider current and future impacts on: Operability, Risk and Safety, Finance, Labour, Labour Relations, Community, First Nations, Environment, and Vale\xe2\x80\x99s reputation.

In addition, you will:

  • Lead operational readiness execution from project stages to operations hand over.
  • Provide operational planning and execution looking for opportunities to move the expansion of Creighton Mine forward.
  • Provide management oversight for new mining processes and technologies.
  • Liaison between project teams and Vale operations in matters relating to interfacing with maintenance, plant support and process engineering.
  • Represent operations and maintenance in all aspects of design and implementation.
  • Technical and process review of vendor design and specification documents.
  • Ensure that the facility as designed and constructed is operable and maintainable and meets established process design criteria.
  • Ensure that equipment selection, design and layout reduce operating and maintenance risks.
  • Accountable for the development of the operations hiring plan and the onboarding of personnel required to operate the facility.
  • Develop, approve and document all required operating, maintenance and start-up procedures.
  • Develop training manuals and programs required for relevant procedures and processes.
  • Assist with the development of the project commissioning and turnover packages.
About You

Education:
  • Professional Engineer in mining or related operational field experience applicable to the Mining Industry is required.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 11 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience within a similar role in the mining industry.
Skills:
  • Ability to influence and communicate throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Establish trusting relationships with stakeholders such as local unions.
  • Skilled negotiator and ability to mobilize parties through impasse scenarios to identify common ground.
  • Deep knowledge required in the following areas:
  • Base Metals Strategy
  • North Atlantic operations business flowsheet (mining and process)
  • Ci (cost) vs Volume (product) metrics analysis
