Your Opportunity:

Westlock is located in a rural setting, 70km north of Edmonton where Nurses work within a multidisciplinary team to provide family focused nursing care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have recent medical/surgical, emergency, and labor and delivery room experience, certification in a relevant specialty area, charge nurse experience, and leadership training. Westlock has an active OR with orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, obstetrics and general surgery. Westlock is also an Acute Stroke Center for the north. Westlock Healthcare Center is a fast paced environment and requires individuals with good communication and organizational skills. Relevant advanced certifications and professional development opportunities are available to successful candidates. Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited OR technician program required. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Must demonstrate advanced communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Must exhibit respect, team work and team spirit. Ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time. Basic computer skills are required. The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and / or emergency situations is essential. The position is very physically demanding. Must be able to life / pull / push more than 25 lbs. There is a lot of above shoulder requirement for prepping and positioning of patients. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous operating room experience in a Surgical Suite setting is preferred. ACLS/PALS desirable. Previous acute care and maternity experience is preferred.
