Your Opportunity:The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room is a key professional responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered care through comprehensive assessment, planning, and implementation. The RN begins by evaluating the patient, making nursing diagnoses, verifying procedure readiness, and ensuring charts are complete. They confirm the planned procedure, create a safe environment, and coordinate the necessary supplies, equipment, and staff, ensuring resources are functional and appropriately skilled personnel are assigned. During the procedure, the RN adheres to strict aseptic techniques, functions as a scrub nurse to manage table setups, instrumentation, counts, patient draping, specimen care, and drug preparation, while also serving as a circulator who facilitates critical patient-centered activities. This includes supporting surgical and anesthesia teams, assisting with intubation and extubating, ensuring patient positioning, administering or monitoring medications, and transporting patients to recovery or care units' post-surgery. The RN documents all patient data accurately and handles specimens according to protocols. Additionally, they contribute to education and leadership within the team by orienting new staff, mentoring students, developing educational tools, and acting as a resource and role model. They guide and supervise Operating Room Technicians to ensure smooth operations. By combining clinical expertise, meticulous coordination, and strong leadership, the RN plays a pivotal role in achieving optimal outcomes for surgical patients while fostering an environment of safety, collaboration, and learning.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
