Position Overview



NurseAmerica is hiring a dedicated and experienced

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

in Winnipeg, MB to join a top-tier healthcare facility in

Watertown, New York

.

The OR RN will be responsible for providing professional perioperative nursing care, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. This role requires expertise in surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and effective teamwork to support surgeons and the perioperative team in delivering safe and efficient surgical care.

Key Responsibilities



Review surgical schedules, preoperative documentation, and patient assessments. Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment. Function as

scrub or circulating nurse

, depending on assignment. Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and anesthesia responses during surgery. Anticipate surgical team needs, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready. Maintain strict adherence to sterile and infection control practices. Assist in positioning, draping, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure. Accurately count instruments, sponges, and sharps, maintaining precise documentation. Handle and label surgical specimens according to protocol. Collaborate closely with anesthesia, PACU, and surgical teams for seamless workflow. Document all perioperative activities and patient outcomes in the EMR. Participate in quality assurance and surgical safety initiatives.

Qualifications



Current

New York RN license

(active and unrestricted). Graduate of an

accredited School of Nursing

.

BLS

required;

ACLS

preferred.

CNOR certification

highly preferred. Minimum

2 years of recent OR experience

in an acute care hospital. Excellent understanding of aseptic technique and surgical procedures. Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
