Job Description

Energaz Canada Inc. (ECI) wholly owns the Cochrane Power Corporation (CPC) thermal power plant and property in Cochrane ON. The company is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Operating Engineer (2nd Class) at the Cochrane facility. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.

The Operating Engineer shall assist in the operation and maintenance of CPC's power generation assets as directed by the Chief Operating Engineer. Said activities shall satisfy regulatory compliance as required to execute the Medium-Term Capacity (MTC) 1 Contract executed with the IESO, in effect until April 2029, and undertake operations in the Day Ahead market. The company is seeking to implement a new Medium-Term Capacity Contract to extend operations into the 2030s.

Candidate profile

Power (Operating) Engineer with valid 2nd Class certification by TSSA; Experience in steam and/or gas turbine operations is required; Certificate or diploma of collegial studies in power engineering, electromechanics, electrotechnology, processes and/or mechanics; Knowledge and experience with electrical circuits, PLC, hydraulic circuits and heavy machinery; Experience with IESO, HONI and TSSA processes an asset; Must be able to interpret technical drawings (civil, mechanical, electrical), specifications, wiring diagrams and operating procedures; Basic knowledge of the operations of a power plant and good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures; IT skills (MS Office, Adobe, etc) an asset; Excellent communication skills English, working knowledge of French an asset.

The position is based at the CPC Plant in Cochrane Ontario.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60.00-$70.00 per hour
