Job Description


Capstone Infrastructure Corporation ("Capstone") is a Canadian company focused on developing, constructing, acquiring and operating high-quality clean power generation facilities. Capstone currently owns and operates an approximate net installed capacity of more than 824 megawatts across 31 facilities in Canada, including wind, hydro, solar, biomass and natural gas power plants.

Capstone is seeking to fill a Ontario Regional Manager position, this person will report to the Director of Wind Operations for Capstone Infrastructure, a company with significant, proven expertise in managing and operating power assets. Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively promotes a safety-minded working environment and safety programs consistent with the Capstone Infrastructure Health and Safety Principle and governance initiatives.
  • Sets objectives for their team in alignment with Capstone\'s strategic plan and maintains a record of their performance through regular evaluations and makes recommendations for their merit increases and incentive pay.
  • Optimize plant technical performance through enhancements, upgrades and modifications to physical site equipment.
  • Takes ownership of ensuring the AIP is scheduled and completed each year
  • Improve plant financial performance through modifications to contracts, reflecting changes in market design or operating philosophy.
  • Apply emerging trends to add value to existing and future Capstone projects.
  • Interface with commercial organization to enhance communications, outage decision making, dispatch decisions, metric utilization, and plant capability to maximize economic performance and/or optimize the sale of energy output from the facilities.
  • Oversee the management of a portfolio of power generation facilities as an independent power producer operating in regulated, merchant, and PPA environments.
  • Monitor the day-to-day operation, maintenance, fiscal, and administrative functions of each operating facility under their purview.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and procedures.
  • Authorize the hiring, termination, and pay schedules for Capstone operating facilities.
  • Recommend the hiring, termination, and pay schedules for Site Mangers positions for approval by Director of Operations at Capstone.
  • Responsible for the oversight and direction of plant compliance with company policies and procedures, governmental regulations, Power Purchase contract compliance, operations and maintenance agreements, annual operating plans, and good engineering practices at each facility.
  • Prepare and submit for review and approval annual and long-term strategic plans, business plans/budgets and periodic reports for Capstone managed facilities.
  • Direct lender-required technical and budget review programs.
  • Identify and direct professional development of subordinates, including identifying needs and supporting plans.
  • Comply with all Capstone\'s policies and procedures.
  • Operate as a team member with all employees of Capstone staff.
  • Maintain Capstone\'s leadership in power generation through interaction with industry stakeholders and key suppliers.
  • Interface with Capstone\'s BUs units, ensuring active knowledge transfer into the renewable organization.
  • Carries out all other duties as assigned.
Regulatory:
  • Maintain compliance with the independent system operator (ISO) and ensure all policies, procedures and self-reporting is accurate and all deadlines are fulfilled and deemed the ISO designated Senior Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Manager for all reporting and compliance for all Wind & Solar facilities, if required and applicable to the jurisdiction.
  • Take a key leadership role in all ISO audits
  • Ensure all applicable regulatory paperwork is completed accurately and within the required deadlines.
  • Stay abreast of federal, provincial and local laws, rules and regulations and good industry practices, including environment and safety, and ensure compliance at all times
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business degree preferred
  • 10 years\' experience with demonstrated leadership and management of staff.
  • Experience with Development, Operations, Maintenance, Dispatch and Optimization of Wind and Solar Assets.
  • In-depth knowledge of wind and solar power generating facilities, equipment and technologies
  • Proficiency with personal computer applications, in particular, operational and financial modeling and budgeting
  • Superior problem solving, organization and prioritizing skills
  • Strong leadership/management/communication/organizational skills
  • Ability to make significant independent judgements
  • Negotiations skills in high value long term contracts
