We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Ontario Estate Planning Attorney to join our esteemed legal team. Duties
Draft, review, and implement estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives with meticulous attention to detail.
Conduct thorough legal research on estate laws and related regulations within Ontario to ensure compliance and optimal client outcomes.
Advise clients on estate tax strategies, probate procedures, and asset protection techniques tailored to their individual needs.
Collaborate with financial advisors, tax professionals, and other legal experts to develop holistic estate plans that align with clients' long-term goals.
Manage estate administration processes post-death, including probate filings, estate settlement, and distribution of assets in accordance with legal requirements.
Provide guidance on related areas such as family law matters affecting estate planning, including marriage, divorce, or guardianship issues when relevant.
Stay current on updates in laws affecting estate planning, environmental law considerations impacting land assets, securities law implications for asset transfers, and tribal law & regulations where applicable.
Utilize legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to gather pertinent case law and statutory information efficiently.
Maintain detailed records of client interactions, legal documents drafted, and case progress within the law office's case management system.
Demonstrate excellent writing skills in preparing clear legal documents and correspondence that communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active licensure to practice law in Ontario.
Proven experience in estate planning with a strong understanding of Ontario's estate laws and regulations.
Familiarity with environmental law as it pertains to land assets within estate plans is a plus.
Demonstrated negotiation skills to facilitate agreements among multiple parties involved in estate matters.
Knowledge of additional practice areas such as immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation procedures, and patent law is highly desirable.
Proficiency in legal research platforms including LexisNexis and Westlaw for comprehensive case analysis.
Strong research capabilities combined with excellent writing skills for drafting precise legal documents.
Prior legal administrative experience managing case files efficiently while adhering to confidentiality standards.
Exceptional attention to detail coupled with the ability to interpret complex legal issues clearly for clients from diverse backgrounds.
