to oversee, implement, and enhance health and safety initiatives at multiple job sites across Ontario. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with the
Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
and all applicable regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, providing training, developing policies, investigating incidents, and fostering a culture of safety for both internal teams and external clients.
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
Identify existing and potential hazards in the workplace and job sites.
Ensure ongoing evaluation of work processes and procedures to reduce or eliminate risks.
Review the effectiveness of current controls and update them as needed.
Workplace and Job Site Inspections
Conduct
daily
workplace and job site inspections to assess safety risks and hazards.
Ensure compliance with the OHSA, regulations, and internal policies.
Document findings and track corrective actions through to resolution.
TMP / Book 7 Road Setup Inspections
Perform inspections of traffic management plans (TMP) and road setups per Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7.
Ensure signage, barriers, and traffic control devices are properly installed and maintained.
Report deficiencies and initiate immediate corrective measures.
Monthly Client Site Inspections
Schedule and conduct monthly inspections at client worksites.
Provide written reports with recommendations for hazard mitigation and OHSA compliance.
Recommendations and Safety Improvements
Advise employers and workers on safety improvements and legislative compliance.
Ensure all safety recommendations are documented, followed up, and implemented.
Work Refusal Investigations
Lead and participate in investigations involving work refusals under Section 43 of OHSA.
Ensure due process is followed and findings are communicated to all parties.
Incident Investigations
Investigate all incidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root causes.
Make recommendations to prevent recurrence and submit reports to appropriate stakeholders.
Policy and Program Development
Develop, review, and update health and safety programs and policies in line with OHSA and best practices.
Customize policies and programs for individual client needs and work environments.
Training and Worker Education
Facilitate training sessions on various health and safety topics, including WHMIS, hazard communication, and job-specific hazards.
Maintain training logs and ensure all workers are trained and competent in safety procedures.
Information Sharing and Reporting
Act as a liaison between the employer and workers to ensure access to safety information under Section 25(2)(l) of OHSA.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and training.
Collaboration and Safety Culture
Partner with supervisors, site leads, and management to promote a positive health and safety culture.
Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and Health and Safety Representative (HSR) activities, where applicable.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety.
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Knowledge of OHSA and Ontario health and safety regulations is required.
Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification - Part 1 and 2
is an asset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for policy development, training delivery, and incident documentation.
Must have a valid Ontario G-class driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or safety management systems (SMS or OHS software).
Working Conditions:
Frequent travel to client job sites across Ontario.
Must be comfortable working outdoors and in various site conditions (construction zones, roadways, etc.).

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
