Job Description

We are looking for an experienced OSSD tutor who can provide

weekly 2-hour online Q&A sessions

covering

Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry

.
Your role is to help students understand key concepts, answer questions from their classes or homework, and guide them through structured problem-solving.

Class Flow

Opening & Introduction:

Brief introductions if there are new students. Otherwise, move straight to the Q&A.

Main Q&A Session:

Each student prepares one question from their recent lessons or homework.
The teacher guides them one by one, focusing on reasoning and method.
If this session runs long, the practice part may be skipped.

Exercise Practice (if time allows):

Students complete exercises according to their course type.
It's not necessary to finish all questions--just do as much as possible.

Post-Class Submission:

Students upload what they completed during class to

Canvas Assignment Dropbox

Unfinished work is not required for submission.

Responsibilities

Conduct 2-hour weekly Q&A sessions and provide clear, structured explanations. Prepare suitable practice materials for different course types. Encourage students to continue unresolved questions via

Canvas Discussion Board

. Communicate briefly with the academic coordinator after each session about student progress and common issues.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or Education

. Familiarity with the

OSSD curriculum and assessment standards

. Experience in

online teaching or tutoring

(ClassIn or similar platforms preferred). Comfortable using

Canvas

for assignments and discussions. Strong communication and time management skills; bilingual ability (English/Chinese) is a plus.

Compensation & Support

$40/hour

, paid by session. Fixed weekly schedule (Thursday evenings). Academic support provided (class procedures, sample question bank, submission guides).
