Online Casual Instructor Associate Arts Indigenous Studies Degree
Native Education College (NEC) opened its doors in 1967 and became British Columbia's largest private Indigenous College. NEC's purpose is to contribute to an Indigenous, holistic experience that positions the Indigenous learner to uphold their responsibility and obligations to their family, and nation of origin as autonomous Peoples. NEC provides culturally relevant education and training for Indigenous Peoples to pursue career aspirations and enhance academic goals in alignment with their diverse cultural identities and traditional knowledge. The NEC longhouse offers access to many resources and in-house support that includes cultural and spiritual support, funding, counselling, and career advising from a culturally authentic lens.
The program is currently seeking an Online Casual Instructor for the following courses to deliver - ENG 110 - Introduction to College Writing, SOC 110 - Introduction to Sociology and PSY 101 - Introduction to Psychology The purpose of online instructors is to provide quality delivery of assigned courses using the appropriate method, including teaching, tutoring, and lecturing in compliance with NEC policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Instructors use the best practices of online learning to lead our students in a virtual setting. The instructor will utilize our Moodle Learning platform to deliver video lectures, upload and assign reading materials, and administer quizzes and tests. Skills & Qualifications:
Any combination of education and work experience as follows will be considered:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's preferred) ?
At least 2 years of experience in a relevant field
Significant online teaching experience, preferably in the post-secondary education system
Excellent verbal, written and computer communication skills
Knowledge of Indigenous values, communities and instructional methodology, and experience working with Indigenous organizations and Indigenous adults.
Experience with Moodle and MS Teams are a must.
