Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Unit Manager, in compliance with CRNM & CANO Standards of Nursing Practice, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients receiving medical assessment, treatment or follow-up at CancerCare Manitoba. The Registered Nurse assesses patients\' and families\' physical, psychosocial and spiritual responses to the disease process and/or treatment and provides nursing interventions that include physical care to manage disease and treat-ment related symptoms, psychosocial support and education to encourage active participation in decision making and self-care. The Registered Nurse works in a team environment to foster an atmosphere of respect and caring.

Qualifications:

Required:

Level of Formal Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred
  • CON(C) preferred
  • Must have a minimum of three years related experiences (specific recent experience may be required in designated areas)
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Licenses, Registrations
  • Eligible for registration with CRNM
  • Current BCLS
Other
  • Good physical and mental health. Moderate to heavy physical effort required
  • Flexible hours and non-conformal shift patterns may be required
  • Flexible to work at both units
  • Must have satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
Preferred:

Ability to speak French
