Location: Grand River Regional Cancer Centre

POSITION: Full Time Oncology Genetics Assistant

HOURS OF WORK: 7.5 hour shifts

Summary:

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Biology or Genetics from an accredited university with evidence of understanding of research and interpretation of scientific and medical literature

Qualifications:

  • International genetic assistant program certification an asset
  • Previous related experience in a Genetics/Clinical setting minimum of 1 year is preferred
  • Oncology genetics clinic experience preferred
  • Knowledge of genetics principles and theory preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to impart knowledge to others in a professional and personable manner required
  • Ability to research and synthesize information
  • Strong computing skills including Microsoft office and database knowledge required
  • Knowledge of CERNER system/Powerchart, Progeny an asset
  • Ability to work in an unsupervised setting and take initiative for program mandate
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential
