Summary:
Plans and implements daily learning activities aligned with the Preschool's philosophy for children (30 months to 5 years) with
English as an additional language (EAL). Introduces and reinforces concepts targeting child development and kindergarten
readiness, emphasizing social and emotional growth.
How You Will Make a Difference:
Ensure children achieve appropriate developmental goals in language, social skills, critical thinking, problem-solving,
and motor skills. Assist in research, material development, and facilitation of activities aligned with the philosophy and curriculum.
Organize activities for children to explore interests and develop kindergarten readiness skills.
Develop schedules for physical activity, rest, learning through play, and teacher-directed learning.
Document attendance, learning, and progress; maintains records and communication logs.
Keep parents informed about their child's development.
Identify and report emotional, developmental, or health concerns to the Manager and liaise with relevant specialists
when required. Participate in parent/caregiver consultations and assist in planning interventions.
Collaborate with parents/caregivers as partners to support children's development.
Affirm and enhance human dignity, respects fundamental human rights, and celebrates diversity creating welcoming
environments. Ensure all children and families are accepted and experience a sense of belonging, supporting full participation in all
aspects of the program. Assist the Manager with enrolling new children. Ensures children's safety and security, reporting concerns
immediately. Collaborate with the ECE team to maintain a safe, clean/organized, and stimulating environment.
Partner with community service providers to support children's well-being.
Performs other related duties as required.
What You Bring:
Early Childhood Education diploma/certificate and current certification to practice in BC and a minimum of two (2)
years' experience in a childcare setting (preferably ELL), supplemented by courses/workshops in Special Needs Training,
working with multi-barrier clients, and/or multi-cultural curriculum, with experience in Emergent Curriculum and
Documentation, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid First Aid certificate.
Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset.
What Makes You a Change Maker:
Preference for candidates with experience working with children with varying levels of English language acquisition,
children who have experienced trauma, and children displaying behavioral challenges due to stress. Effective communication skills in both written and oral English.
Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
Knowledge of emergent curriculum and ability to stay current in all aspects of Early Childhood Education.
Ability to plan creative lessons that engage children with different learning styles and varying levels of English, preparing
them for kindergarten. Strong organizational skills for lesson planning and maintaining accurate student records.
Ability to set and maintain boundaries with clients and manage self-care.
Possession of and ability to maintain a clear provincial Criminal Record Check.

Expected Hiring Salary:
$22.90 - $25.20
per hour. Dependent on education, training, experience, and internal equity.
