On Call Glazier

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented glazier to join our team on an on-call basis. The ideal candidate will have experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining glass in various settings, including residential and commercial properties. This role requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Measure, cut, and install glass for windows, doors, skylights, and other fixtures according to specifications.

- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine project requirements.

- Use hand tools and equipment, including glass cutters, suction cups, and caulking guns, to perform installations and repairs.

- Apply sealants and caulking to ensure airtight and watertight installations.

- Remove old or broken glass and prepare surfaces for new installations.

- Assemble and use scaffolding and ladders for high installations safely.

- Transport glass from our supplier or warehouse to each customer's property on a daily basis.

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards and regulations.

- Communicate effectively with clients to discuss project details and address any concerns.

Perform regular inspections and maintenance on installed glass to ensure durability and safety.
- Demonstrating proficiency in related window maintenance tasks, such as window caulking, screen repair, and window crank (operator) repair and replacement.

- Collaborate with team members on larger projects and may work as a helper from time to time.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Completion of an apprenticeship program in glazing or related field.

- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.

- Strong knowledge of glass installation techniques and safety practices.

- Ability to use hand tools and equipment effectively.

- Excellent measurement and precision skills.

- Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads (up to 80 pounds).

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients and team members.

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

- At least two years of experience in residential/commercial glazing, or a related field.

- Familiarity with safety regulations and construction site requirements.

Working Conditions:

- This position requires flexibility to work on-call based on job availability.

- Work may be performed in various environments, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings.
