JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The Finance Clerk must comply with established policies and procedures.
Processing and monitoring payments, expenditures, invoices and receivables. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure TSD finances are accurate and up to date and produced monthly, and that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.
This position is responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems. This position also may reconcile GST reports and perform research and analysis of accounts when requested.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to the TSD Director.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform the day-to-day processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking transactions to ensure accounts are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner utilizing the OKIB's accounting system
Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services
Verify that transactions comply with financial administration bylaw, policies and procedures
Verify and process invoices and coding payment documents
Prepare invoices and P.O.s for submission to the Finance office
Perform year end reconciliations and audit preparation for all cash, payables, and expenditures and receivables accounts
Answers phones in absence of the receptionist answering inquiries and directing caller to appropriate staff
All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties.
Participate in community events as requested
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Maintain payable/expenditure files and invoicing/receivable files
Process purchase orders
Process expenditure reimbursement and travel advances for staff
Review and verify travel claims
Maintain a filing system for all financial documents
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies and procedures
Perform other duties as required

You have education, experience, or an equivalent combination may be considered. You are community-minded, detail-oriented, have a willingness to contribute to a team and an excellent communicator.
Education
Grade 12
Certificate or Diploma in Accounting Administration preferred
Valid BC Driver's licence, Class 5 and reliable vehicle
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience
Office administrative support and bookkeeping experience preferred
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office programs; Excel, Word and Outlook
Experience working with confidential information
Experience working with First Nations communities

CLASSIFICATION/PAY SCALE
$22.00 per hour.
