Challenger Baseball Coach

Schedule:

Saturdays relaunching in January 2026 at Variety Village (indoor season opportunities) plus 30 minutes set up and 30 minutes take down

Additional hours for Games/tournaments, some travel may be required.

Rate of Pay:

$18.00 per hour

Job Summary

Variety Village, in partnership with Jays Care Foundation and Challenger Baseball, is seeking a trained Coach to lead our Challenger Baseball Program. This role involves coaching, and creating a fun, supportive environment where everyone can learn and enjoy the game.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with promotion and recruitment of additional players with varied abilities to join the program and teams. Coaching youth and adults with disabilities in the game of Baseball while developing the knowledge of the game, confidence, game strategies and skills. Utilizing challenger baseball curriculum ideas with your experience and leadership to introduce games, skills and activities. Building a challenger baseball network of community, clubs/contacts. Establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with the athletes, parents and volunteers involved in the program. Creating an environment that is inclusive and supportive. Communicating with athletes/parents/ guardians, volunteers. Coordinating the participation in tournaments, at Variety Village and in the community. Other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

Challenger Baseball coach training completion. Baseball coaching experience with children/ youth of all abilities. Leadership, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work as a team and provide leadership. Passion for the vision and mission of Variety Village Adhere to Variety's internal policies and procedures. Attend required training (Plan to Protect).
