Reporting to the Master, we are seeking a

temporary

experienced Chief Officer

on our vessel the IT Integrity for approx. 6 weeks. The company offers excellent working conditions and a learning environment with opportunities for advancement. The Chief Officer is responsible for the supervision of officers, cadets and deck crew and equipment. In the Master's absence, the Chief Officer is responsible for the crew's safety and the vessel. He keeps navigation, DP and cable operation watches as required. He may be appointed as the OIM's delegate and be responsible for cable work including: deck preparations, supervision of operations from the deck, planning the lengths of grapple rope required and moorings required for cable buoys, Adherence to the cable operations manual(s).

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



All maintenance on deck, including life saving appliances and navigation equipment, but excluding the machinery under the Chief Engineer's responsibility; Deck Department activities, including cargo operations, vessel stability ballast, anchoring and lifting operations; Security of water tight compartments and maintenance of all external aspects of the vessel and lifting equipment; Calculation and monitoring of the vessel's stability; Keeping records of Deck Department stores/parts received/issued; Acting as Safety Officer, if appointed; Acting as a ship security officer, if appointed; Acting as Senior Dynamic Positioning Officer, supervising DP Operator's activities; Supervising deck officers during cable work and instructing them in their duties; Understanding and implementing the Safety Management System at the management level within the Deck Department; Maintaining ship's lifting appliances and loose gear according to company policies and applicable regulations; Reporting defects or irregularities to the Master immediately; Facilitating the Deck Cadet Training Program; According to rank, understanding international and national regulations, codes and guidelines, Company policies, and instructions on emergency duties.

Required Competencies:



English competency required Minimum 1 year experience on DP operated vessels including 6 months as a Senior DP Operator; 2-4 years experience supervising operations on similar type vessels.

Required Certificates:



Certificate of Competency Chief Mate, unlimited (STCW II/2) Marine Medical STCW Safety Training (Basic Safety, Survival Craft, Advanced Firefighting) GMDSS General Operator Certificate Marine Advanced First Aid or Marine Medical Care ECDIS, generic Seaman's Book DP Operator (Limited/Unlimited) - desired Ship Security Officer - desired Bridge Resource Management - desired

All certificates and CoC should be endorsed or issued by Transport Canada.



Interested and available for national and international travel (must have the required visas to travel ex. C1D VISA).
