Hybrid remote/on-location position serving an assigned geographic area, which may include Regina (1), Edmonton (1), and Calgary (1).
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Urban Services, the Cowessess First Nation (CFN) Off-Reserve Navigator works in collaboration with their team members to design and implement programs that engage CFN community members in constructive and enriching activities. This position requires a deep understanding of the diverse needs and interests of Cowessess First Nation members to foster an environment where they can develop their skills, enhance their knowledge, build confidence and connect with other community members. Collaboration with schools, families, and community organizations is often a significant aspect of the job, ensuring that the programs are accessible and relevant. The ultimate goal is to support the holistic development of young individuals and healthy families, preparing them for future challenges and opportunities.
Ideal candidate for this role is passionate about creating change and advocating for CFN members. You will be an exceptional communicator and foster trust with the CFN members through open dialogue. You will be a team player who is compassionate, reliable, empathetic, and goal oriented. The Off-Reserve Navigator will be flexible and able to work ethically and with Cowessess First Nation values in mind. You will be expected to travel to meet clients, including travel across Canada.
Duties:
Develop a membership list of CFN community members in the assigned geographic area
Work with the Director and other Coordinators to develop an annual calendar of community events
Develop communication strategies for announcing events, programs and services provided by the Urban office
Communicate events in a timely manner to the CFN members using social media and other forms of communication, i.e. email
Foster positive relationships with community members by reaching out and encouraging participation in support services and program initiatives
Be accessible to CFN community members to assist and guide them toward other support services that are not provided by CFN Urban office
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Diploma or Degree in any Human Services or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
Experience in planning, organizing, and leading programs or events is crucial
Experience working with First Nations communities and knowledge of First Nations values, culture, traditions, and governance.
Lived experience in supporting diverse life paths.
An understanding of budgeting and financial management.
Excellent organizational and time management skills including significant attention to detail.
Proficient computer skills and proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

A passion for preserving and promoting Cowessess culture and way of life.
Sensitivity to the unique needs and perspectives of Cowessess people.
Ability to create safe, inclusive, and engaging environments for Cowessess members, demonstrating a blend of practical experience in engagement strategies and program management.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of the families and the organization.
Ability to troubleshoot issues during events or project execution.
Effectively coordinate with volunteers, staff, and Leadership, while also demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
A positive and adaptable approach to problem solving.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region, as required.
Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset but not required.
The incumbent must provide a successful criminal background check with vulnerable sector search as well as be willing and able to travel on a regular basis.
