About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Security Officer who is responsible for providing an effective physical security presence and security response capability at the Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. (DDMI) Product Splitting Facility located in Yellowknife, NT, to ensure the human resources and assets are protected from both internal and external security threats.Reporting to the Security Supervisor, located at the Product Splitting Facility in Yellowknife, NT, you will be working a 5 day on / 2 day off rotation scheduled 8 hours days.Working collaboratively with operational and functional departments, you will be responsible for:
Incorporating safety in all aspects of the security program.
Monitoring alarms, access control and communication center and acknowledging and/or responding to all alarms.
Monitoring specific persons of interest throughout the facility (focus monitoring).
Conducting searches in the designated area or elsewhere as required, in accordance with DDMI policies and procedures.
Conducting searches of baggage, toolboxes, and equipment.
Maintaining surveillance by monitoring live activities and reviewing digital recordings within high-risk security areas using closed circuit television (CCTV) and distinguishing between approved and unauthorized processing activities.
Physically fit with the ability to walk, negotiate stairs, and stand for long periods on regular bases.
Performing guarding and patrolling duties within the facility.
Acting as an escort for visitors, service/maintenance staff throughout the facility as required.
About youTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
Strong safety mindset.
Valid Class 5 driver\'s license and clean driver\'s abstract.
Required to successfully complete a criminal records check, police clearance and psychological testing with period updates.
Experience in the security industry, law enforcement or military would be an asset.
Knowledge of the diamond industry and understanding the diamond extraction process will be considered an asset.
Knowledge of asset management and protection, relevant security legislation including PIPEDA, Criminal Code of Canada, Human Rights, etc.
Working knowledge of security systems and technologies such as Access Control and CCTV System.
Knowledge of investigational steps including, statement taken, report writing and photography.
Proficiency in risk appreciation/identification and reduction.
Possess good organization, communication, time management, stress management and prioritization skills.
Ability to effectively resolve problems and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal and professional networking skills.
Working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Capable of lifting 23 Kg (50 lbs.).
