Canadian Lynden Transport is looking for an Office Manager who supports the Service Center Manager, drivers, and customers. Canadian Lynden Transport Whitehorse specializes in Heavy Haul throughout the Yukon and Southern Alaska Region. The Office Manager position is located in our Whitehorse, YT office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Dispatch
+ Scheduling
+ Dispatch, on call during the week, every other weekend and will provide coverage for the Service Center Manager as required.
  • Assist with Monthly Service Center Reporting
+ Rectify issues as required.
  • Assist with rates
  • Assist with driver recruitment
  • Assist with random drug testing procedures
  • New Employee Onboarding
+ Work with HR/Safety Departments for Clearinghouse clearance
+ Arrange pre-employment drug tests
+ Prepare documents/forms as required for HR/Payroll/Safety Departments
  • Training
+ DPMS entry and upkeep
+ LMS/Dayforce training and upkeep
+ TDG training
+ Assign and/or provide any other training as required by CLTC, DOT, local/federal agencies
  • Safety Compliance
+ Log books
+ Dangerous goods
+ Facility
o Fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.
  • Bills
+ General Freight, Alexco, etc.
  • Customs paperwork
  • Payroll submissions
  • License renewals
  • Maintenance TMT/AMS entries, invoices
  • Assist with parts/tire inventories and reporting
  • Invoicing
  • Barge manifests
  • Mail bag
  • Maintain appropriate level of office supplies as required
  • Answer phones
  • Scheduled to be in the office M-F and weekends as required
  • Will provide coverage for Service Center Manager as required
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE

High School Education or G.E.D or equivalent.

Business Administration experience would be an asset

Payroll experience an asset

Class 1 CDL required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals and shipping documents. Ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of an organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must have the ability to work independently and handle a variety of tasks at one time. The applicant must have strong communication and organizational skills.
