Who We Are

The Pacific Institute on Pathogens, Pandemics and Society (PIPPS) at Simon Fraser University is a new interdisciplinary research institute focused on strengthening British Columbia\xe2\x80\x99s capability to prevent, prepare for and respond to major infectious disease events.

About the Role

The Office Manager is responsible for day-to-day office administration, including the following core roles/activities: management of general office operations, supervision of clerical staff, preparation of financial reports, handling of correspondence, development and maintenance of record keeping systems, and maintenance of facilities and technology. The position provides administrative and clerical support to the Scientific Director and Director Operations, and as such confidentiality in all matters is essential.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in providing full-service administrative assistance to large, busy teams, navigating complex processes and policies with focus, responsiveness and tact, and taking the initiative with minimal supervision, preferably including experience in university administrative environments.

Qualifications

Prefer Bachelor\'s degree or Diploma in Business Administration, and four years of related office management experience including working with operations, space management, financial administration within a university institutional environment, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
  • Excellent financial management, budget forecasting, and administration skills, preferably within SFU financial systems.
