The Office Cleaner safely and efficiently the supports the admin and management teams through maintaining the cleanliness and housekeeping in all administrative areas of the Edmonton Facilities. These areas include (but are not limited to): office, clerical, meeting spaces, shower facilities, change/locker rooms and washrooms. The Office Cleaner ensures that all offices, entrances and rooms are kept clean on a pre-determined schedule which requires areas or potions of areas to be cleaned, sometimes on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The cleaning duties and specified general areas and cleaning responsibilities of the Office Cleaner are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Office and Main Admin Areas
  • Dust and damp wipe tops of all accessible areas and cleared desks, tables, work surfaces and countertops to remove coffee stains,food crumbs, etc.
  • Damp wipe and sanitize phone receivers
  • Empty waste baskets. Replace liners when necessary. Sanitize as required.
  • Spot clean and sanitize partitions, walls, doors, ledges, light switches, push and kick plates to remove visible marks up to 6\'
  • Clean entry glass and other doors. Spot clean entry doors and frames as required.
  • Vacuum high traffic areas of carpet. Clean all carpets and stains as they happen.
  • Sweep and wash vinyl and ceramic tile floor areas each visit.
  • Sweep and wipe all plastic chair mats on both carpet and vinyl floor areas.
  • Dust other horizontal surfaces not mentioned above: window ledges, tops of cabinets, tops of shelves, chair arms and legs, etc.
  • Sweep or vacuum wall to wall, edge to edge of all vinyl and ceramic floor areas, under desks, etc.
  • Lift all plastic chair matts from vinyl floor areas so proper floor cleaning is done under mat. Wipe the underside of plastic mat to remove all dirt and grime.
  • Wipe fronts of office cabinets and desks, spot clean furniture and lower wall areas if clear.
  • Vacuum all office fabric furnishings and wipe down all chairs.
  • Wash and spot clean as required all wastebaskets.
  • Wipe fronts of office cabinets and desks, spot clean furniture and lower wall areas.
  • Dust and damp wipe fronts of all filing cabinets, desks and other vertical furniture surfaces.
  • Wash and spot clean all wastebaskets as required.
  • Wipe entrance glass.
  • Wipe, clean and sanitize the interior and exterior of elevator including all buttons, rails and walls and doors to hand height.
  • Carpet and VCT Tile Floors
  • Spot clean all carpeted areas
  • Burnish all VC Tiles areas
  • Deep scrub of lunchroom and washroom floors
  • Washrooms: Clean and sanitize all hand basins, toilet bowl, urinals and chrome taps and handles / Clean and sanitize toilet seats (both sides) / Wipe wall and counter area adjacent to hand basins as well as other touch and splash points / Clean and polish all glass and mirrors / Spot clean outside lockers / Remove fingerprints from doors, frames, licht switches, kick and wipe plates, handles, etc. / Spot clean partitions, walls, doors and ledges / Sweep or dust mop and wash floors with disinfectant detergent / Empty waste containers and insert new liners as required / Refill all dispensers to normal level and replenish all paper products / Dust tops of horizontal surfaces
  • Locker Rooms: Spot clean outside lockers / Spot clean partitions, walls, doors, and ledges / Sweep or dust mop and wash floors with disinfectant detergent / Empty waste containers and insert liners as required / Refill all dispensers when and needed and insert liners as required / Dust tops of horizontal surfaces / Clean entire front surfaces and tops of all lockers / Clean and sanitize shower walls/floor.
  • Lunch Room: Clean and sanitize all hand basins, chrome taps and handles / Wipe wall and counter area adjacent to hand basins as well as other touch and splash points. / Clean and polish all glass and mirrors / Remove fingerprints from doors, frames, light switches, kick and wipe plates, handles, etc. / Load dishwasher
  • Stairwells: Sweep or vacuum all flooring in stairwells, wash all flooring in stairwells / Wipe all walls minimum of two feet from the floor, spot wash all other walls to hand height / Wipe, clean and disinfect handrails / Wipe and clean entire handrail and in between railings at base / Dust light fixtures
The additional duties of the Office Cleaner are as follows, but not limited to:
  • Understands and promotes the Company\'s, the Division\'s, the Plant\'s, and the Department\'s mission statement, values, and strategic goals.
  • Proactively promotes through example a safe work ethic, attitude, and workplace. Complies with all health and safety policies, standards, and procedures to achieve a safe work environment and safety for all staff and visitors as well as the Company\'s, Client\'s and Regulatory Agencies safe work objectives and requirements.
  • Maintains effective working relationships and communications with peers, management, and other Company departments and staff. Effectively resolves any conflicts in a timely and respectful manner to achieve positive and healthy working relationships and workplace environment.
  • Promotes a quality-first work ethic and attitude to provide a product that is manufactured to the highest standard achievable.
  • Maintains confidentiality to comply with all regulatory requirements and Company Privacy and Confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Understands, complies with, and is accountable for adherence to COR quality standards in all activities.
  • Safely operates company owned, leased, managed, or rented vehicles and/or mobile equipment. Incumbent is required to perform Safety Sensitive duties and responsibilities.
  • Diligently works on and completes assigned training plan and achieves competency for all aspects of the assigned Unit(s) within agreed-upon timelines. Continually works to enhance operational skills. With prior approval and when opportunities exist, commences training on other equipment.
  • Seeks opportunities to simplify and improve work methods and presents them to Supervisor for approval.
  • Provides training and mentoring of other team members and personnel as assigned.
  • Supports other initiatives of the Plant to promote a healthy and positive work environment and enhance employee morale and engagement.
  • Outside cleaning / litter management
  • Daily man door cleaning (debris, snow removal)
  • Snow removal during winter
  • Grass cutting during spring/summer
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TALENTS:
  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • Minimum of six (6) months\' industrial and/or janitorial cleaning experience, or combination of demonstrated experience, aptitude, and specific skills training.
  • Preference for two (2) to five (5) years\' related experience.
  • Ability to be attentive to details to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Effective English language communication skills to verbally communicate, understand, comprehend, and comply with all job requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to work assigned shifts and pre-authorized overtime as scheduled, including outside of regular business hours to achieve various goals and requirements.
  • Ability to wear respirator when required to meet safety guidelines due to dusty environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality to comply with all regulatory requirements and Company Privacy and Confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Ability to complete all conditions of employment including negative alcohol and drug test, current and clean Class 5 driver\'s license, pre-employment medical, and immunizations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • May operate company owned, leased, managed, or rented vehicles and/or mobile equipment.
  • Mobile equipment may include trucks, forklifts, skid steers and man lifts.
  • Required to climb stairs, work at heights, and be exposed to various industrial hazards such as but not limited to noise, fumes, chemicals, bloodborne and other pathogens.
  • Works in dusty environment and wears respirator while in the Plant when required to meet safety guidelines.
  • Exposed to mobile equipment, moving equipment, and electrical hazards.
  • May be required to do heavy lifting and carrying, up to 49 pounds, a number of times per shift.
HOURS OF WORK

This position\'s current hours of work are from Monday to Friday, 8 hours of work per shift, with a 30 minutes lunch break.

Availability to work overtime is required, including on Saturdays and Sundays
