Competencies Required
The office assistant shall have the following competencies:
(a) The ability to work effectively and multitask in a customer service work environment
(b) Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
(c) The ability to perform administrative and secretarial tasks as required to support the office
(d) The ability to work and communicate effectively within the office, with other staff as well as outside agencies and individuals
(e) The ability to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities
(f) The ability to apply knowledge and proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, database software, word processing software and the Internet
(g) The ability to maintain and promote confidentiality as the norm
Qualifications
(a) Completion of diploma/certificate in secretarial or administrative support, or equivalent obtained through relevant job experience
(b) Minimum two years experience in an administrative support role within a customer service work environment
Specific Job Components
(a) Provide receptionist support to the office
(b) Administration of branch councils
(c) Administer committee lists
(d) Maintain correspondence files
(e) Administer insurance program
(f) Administer bursary program
(g) Provide support to archives committee
(h) Coordinate mailings
(i) Provide clerical support to other areas of the office
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 18 months
Pay: $15.80-$26.36 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
