Mississauga Secondary Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Science Teacher to join our team to teach Physics, Biology, or Chemistry. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality education, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of Science, and tailoring lessons to meet the needs of all learners. As part of our faculty, you will implement the BASIS Curriculum while integrating your personal knowledge and passion for Science to create an exceptional learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Implementation:
Deliver lessons that follow the established BASIS Curriculum, ensuring students grasp key mathematical concepts while promoting problem-solving, analytical thinking, and critical reasoning skills.
Lesson Planning and Preparation:
Develop and implement dynamic lesson plans that engage students and are differentiated to meet the varying learning styles and academic levels within the classroom.
Student-Centered Instruction:
Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and succeed in mastering mathematical concepts.
Assessment and Feedback:
Regularly assess student progress using a range of formative and summative assessments. Provide timely and constructive feedback to guide student improvement and foster a growth mindset.
Student Support:
Offer individualized attention and additional resources for students who need extra help, ensuring that every student is supported in achieving their academic goals.
Collaboration with Faculty
: Work closely with fellow educators and administrators to align instructional practices with school-wide goals and initiatives. Participate in professional
development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in education and mathematics.
Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a structured, focused classroom environment conducive to learning, ensuring students are engaged, respectful, and on task.
Communication with Parents:
Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming assessments, and opportunities for additional support.
Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of Bachelor of Education
Security and Safety:
Criminal Record Check - Level 3 (Vulnerable Sector)
Credentials:
Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT)
Additional Skills:
Proficient in English. Second Language is an asset (Mandarin, Arabic, etc...)
Specialization in Science (ex. Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
Experience: Minimum 2 years
Technical Skills:
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Proficient in Microsoft Teams
