Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the program manager, the Occupational Therapist works in collaboration with patients, families and inter-professional team members to facilitate and restore the patient\xe2\x80\x99s optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation and follow-up while working within an acute/subacute setting. The Occupational Therapist, in collaboration with the patient and family, establishes individualized treatment plans and goals independently manage a busy caseload and use clinical judgement and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The Occupational Therapist provides education and support to patients, families and inter-professional team members. The Occupational Therapist functions as both a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary long term care setting. The Occupational Therapist contributes to the clinical education of Occupational Therapist students and related health disciplines and for supervision of Occupational Therapist assistants. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for adhering to nova scotia health authority policies and procedures and to the professional standards of our licensing body, the nova scotia college of Occupational Therapists.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor or equivalent of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • BCLS
  • Experience in seating assessments and pressure management strategies is considered an asset
  • Experience in geriatrics is concerned an asset
  • Knowledge of dementia is considered an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with residents, families, other health care providers and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
