POSITION SUMMARY
An Occupational Therapist is required in the Outpatient Mental Health Team located at 1661 Montreal Rd., Ottawa. The Occupational Therapist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and will offer services to families referred to the outpatient mental health program.
The Occupational Therapist will work with individuals and families, providing assessments, interventions and consultative services within the CAPA (Choice and Partnership Approach) framework to care. CAPA is a service transformation model combining collaborative and participatory practice with service users to enhance effectiveness, leadership, skills modelling, demand, and capacity management. The Occupational Therapist will work with children and youth up to 18 years old and their families.
JOB DESCRIPTIONTo provide an assessment of the child/youth's daily functioning within the home, school and community environments To assess the child/youth's abilities in the area of self-care, and explore both leisure and vocational strengths and needs to aid in the development of coping strategies To assess the child/youth's attachment skills; social, emotional and behavioural regulation skills; sensory processing and provide programming to address the needs identified To assess and provide recommendations on equipment. To collaborate with team members on developing safety plans for the child/youth. To work with the child/youth on an individual basis and/or within a therapeutic group. To provide parent education on their child/youth's needs. To participate in monthly professional practice meetings. To actively participate as a team member within the outpatient and day treatment clinical teams in formulating individual recommendations post-discharge To participate in ongoing education and training to remain up-to-date on best practice. To participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives. To provide student supervision and teaching To participate in research To represent the department and profession on committees

QUALIFICATIONSPolice Record Check (PRC) (Essential) Graduate from an accredited university program in Occupational Therapy (Essential) Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (C.O.T.O.) (Essential) Minimum of 2 years experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in pediatrics (Essential) 2 years related experience within a mental health setting (Preferred) Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in children and youth (Preferred) Experience and/or interest in clinical research (Essential) Communicate effectively, orally and in writing (Essential) Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal skills (Essential) Comfort level and skill in preparing and facilitating therapeutic groups (Essential) Bilingualism (English and French) (Preferred)

RESUME DU POSTE
Un poste d'ergotherapeute est a pourvoir au sein de l'equipe de consultation externe en sante mentale situee au 1661, chemin de Montreal, a Ottawa. Le ou la titulaire du poste fait partie integrante d'une equipe multidisciplinaire et assure des services aux familles aiguillees vers le programme de consultation externe sante mentale.
L'ergotherapeute, qui travaillera aupres des jeunes et de leur famille, procedera a des evaluations et a des interventions et assurera des services de consultation selon l'approche fondee sur la liberte de choix et le partenariat. Cette approche est un modele de transformation des services qui combine la pratique collaborative et participative au service des utilisatrices et utilisateurs afin d'ameliorer l'efficacite, le sens du leadership, la modelisation des competences ainsi que la gestion de la demande et de la capacite. L'ergotherapeute travaillera aupres des enfants et adolescents de 18 ans et moins et de leur famille.
DESCRIPTION DE POSTEFournir une evaluation du fonctionnement quotidien de l'enfant ou de l'adolescent a la maison, a l'ecole et dans la collectivite. Evaluer les capacites a prendre soin de soi-meme de l'enfant ou de l'adolescent et examiner ses forces et ses besoins dans ses loisirs et sa vie scolaire pour faciliter l'elaboration de strategies d'adaptation. Evaluer les capacites d'attachement et les capacites affectives, sociales, emotionnelles, comportementales et sensorielles de l'enfant ou de l'adolescent, et offrir des programmes pour repondre aux besoins cernes. Evaluer l'equipement et formuler des recommandations. Collaborer avec les membres de l'equipe a l'elaboration de plans de securite pour l'enfant ou de l'adolescent. Travailler avec l'enfant ou l'adolescent seul ou dans un groupe therapeutique. Renseigner les parents au sujet des besoins de leur enfant ou de leur adolescent. Participer aux reunions mensuelles sur la pratique professionnelle. Participer activement en tant que membre des equipes cliniques de traitement de jour et de consultation externe a la formulation de recommandations individuelles suivant le conge. Participer a des activites de formation continue pour se tenir au courant des pratiques exemplaires. Participer aux initiatives d'amelioration continue de la qualite. Assurer l'enseignement a des etudiants et leur supervision. Participer a la recherche. Representer le Ministere et la profession au sein de comites.

QUALIFICATIONSVerification du casier judiciaire (Essentiel) Diplome d'un programme universitaire reconnu en ergotherapie (Essentiel) Inscription aupres de l'Ordre des ergotherapeutes de l'Ontario (O.T.O.) (Essentiel) Au moins 2 ans d'experience a titre d'ergotherapeute, de preference en pediatrie (Essentiel) 2 ans d'experience pertinente dans un milieu de sante mentale (Souhaitable) Connaissance des troubles psychiatriques chez les enfants et les adolescents (Souhaitable) Experience ou interet pour la recherche clinique (Essentiel) Capacite de communiquer efficacement de vive voix et par ecrit (Essentiel) Excellentes aptitudes demontrees en relations interpersonnelles (Essentiel) Aisance et competence dans la preparation et l'animation de groupes therapeutiques (Essentiel) Bilinguisme anglais et francais (Souhaitable)
