Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Occupational Therapist (OT)
to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has expertise in
motor vehicle accident (MVA) clients, slip & fall cases, and personal injury claims
. You will conduct
attendant care and functional assessments
and prepare
comprehensive, defensible reports
to support legal and insurance proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
Attendant Care Needs Assessments (Form 1 or equivalent)
and functional evaluations for clients involved in
MVAs, slip & fall incidents, and other personal injury cases
.
Assess activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental ADLs, supervision needs, and home environments.
Recommend attendant care levels, assistive devices, equipment, and home modifications.
Prepare
clear, thorough, and legally defensible reports
for accident benefit claims and personal injury law matters.
Review medical documentation and integrate findings into assessment reports.
Collaborate with lawyers, insurers, rehabilitation teams, and healthcare professionals.
Stay up to date with legislation, regulations, and best practices related to accident benefits and personal injury assessments.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience
conducting OT assessments for
MVA, slip & fall, and personal injury clients
.
Demonstrated experience preparing
compelling, well-structured reports
for legal and insurance purposes.
Registered and in good standing with the
College of Occupational Therapists
(or applicable regulatory body).
Strong knowledge of the
Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS)
and other relevant frameworks.
Excellent clinical judgment, analytical skills, and report writing abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with catastrophic injury claims.
Prior involvement in mediations, arbitrations, or tribunal matters.
Training in forensic report writing or advanced legal/insurance procedures.
Willingness to travel for in-home or on-site assessments.
