Occupational Therapist, Community Integration Program, Assertive
Community Treatment Team Temporary Full Time (up to 3 years) $40.00 – $50.96 Reference#: 22-358A As a member of an interprofessional team, the Occupational Therapist ( O T ) provides expertise in their field, by providing evidence-based, recovery focused assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and support focusing on service coordination, medication management, activities of daily living, engagement including work, social, interpersonal relationships and leisure time that contribute to the optimal function of individuals who experience a severe mental illness. The OT also contributes to the development of the comprehensive individual-directed treatment and recovery plan and provides service coordination tor assigned individuals that include providing a range of treatment, rehabilitation and support services in order to facilitate the individual's personal recovery goals. Role Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and competence in the essential competencies of Occupational Therapy
models and occupational therapy models of practice as they apply to persons with a serious mental illness
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a serious mental
illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services
  • Assists individuals to develop lasting connections to communities and natural supports by providing
individual supportive therapy
  • Demonstrated ability to engage adults with serious mental illness as people with dignity and
competence and as full collaborators in service planning, delivery and evaluation
  • Demonstrated skill and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons
with a serious mental illness and respect for the individual's rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential
  • Demonstrated highly effective oral communication and interpersonal skills in order to work
individuals and to interact with in team members, families, community agencies, support groups and other service agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to provide highly individualized services and supports autonomously in an ethical
and professional manner
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, Ethics and strategic directions of Providence

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy required or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy with 3 years of
adult community mental health experience
  • Unrestricted registration with the applicable Ontario College
  • One year work experience providing services to adults with a serious mental illness in an outpatient
psychiatric setting, effectively accessing and employing community resources to meet the needs of the individual, preferred
