Your Opportunity:

The Occupational Therapist II is responsible to the Manager, Occupational Therapy. The Occupational Therapist will have a dual assignment and will work as part of the Central Intake Team and is responsible for the coordination, review of referrals, synthesizing clinical information, determining appropriate assessment team composition, scheduling assessments in keeping with family\'s needs, and collecting relevant Central Intake statistics. In addition, the Coordinator will work to optimize patient flow, improve the quality of the patient and family experience related to assessments organized through Central Intake. The Coordinator will act as a contact person for families and community agencies regarding neurodevelopmental assessment referrals. The position will also include a clinical assignment in Neurodevelopmental pediatric diagnostic assessment (ASD/FASD).

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with tertiary level rehabilitation in an outpatient setting. Extensive knowledge and experience in pediatric rehabilitation of children and family-centered practice are required. In depth knowledge and experience working with pediatric development and developmental conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorders is required. Experience leading clinical teams and/or clinic coordination required. Minimum of five years clinical experience assessing and treating pediatric populations with neurodevelopmental conditions is required. Demonstrated skills in working with interdisciplinary teams, effective communication, planning, organization and leadership skills are also required. Must be able to participate in patient care activities of the role including mat work on the floor, assisting with transfers and mobilization of limbs through passive and active range of motion/strengthening. Experience with Connect Care is required. A comprehensive knowledge of the health system and community resources available to families is required. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in other areas of specialized pediatric care (Constraint and Bimanual therapy, feeding and swallowing, spasticity assessment and treatment, experience with splinting and equipment assessment and treatment).
