Your Opportunity:

As an Occupational Therapist II in this community role, your time will be spent in mixed service streams that include Acute Care, Long-term Care and Outpatients. You will be expected to communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding your clients in the various service areas. In this role you will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Occupational Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professionals in surrounding areas. You will provide clinical direction to a Therapy Assistant and may, on occasion, be offered the opportunity to provide clinical placements for Occupational Therapy or Therapy Assistant students. This position is in Drayton Valley, a vibrant town in Central Alberta, situated between the North Saskatchewan and Pembina Rivers of the Brazeau County. The area is known for its vast oil fields and beautify wilderness areas and boasts many services and recreation opportunities. Enjoy ice hockey, ringette, curling, soccer, baseball, and rodeos at the Drayton Valley Omni plex Sports Centre. A public swimming pool, a ski hill, a bowling alley, and the Drayton Valley Golf and Country Club are just some of the available recreation opportunities. With a population of just over 7000 people, Drayton Valley is a 133 km drive from the nearest large urban centre (Edmonton).

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapy. Heart & Stroke: BCLS-HCP certification required. Preferred Qualifications:

Current AADL Authorizer preferred.
