Your Opportunity:

Located just a few short minutes north of Edmonton, the 167-bed Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH) serves the community of St Albert and the surrounding area. The occupational therapy department works collaboratively with all clinical teams: Medical/Surgical Units, Emergency and ICU/CCU. In addition, the occupational therapy team provides outpatient support to the Western Upper Limb Facility (WULF). This program provides a variety upper extremity specialized services including splinting and rehab services. This position may provide coverage to all service areas listed above, but will be primarily based in the Outpatient Ortho OT Clinic.

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidence-informed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client\xc2\xbfs physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students. You may also provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program. Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Certified Hand Therapy certification is Required. A minimum of 2 years acute and/or tertiary level hospital experience within the past 3 years. A minimum of 6 months Ambulatory or outpatient clinic experience working with upper extremity and/or trauma patients is required within the last year. Recent experience in the assessment and treatment of complex hand injuries, surgical interventions and orthopedics is required. Experience with Upper extremity splinting Required. You must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. You must be able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Must possess strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills. Effective time management and prioritization skills are required. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook preferred. Experience with Connect Care Preferred. AADL authorizer qualifications is an asset. Experience in the assessment/treatment of patients within the geriatric population is an asset. Experience in mentoring Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy students is an asset. Team Lead Experience an asset.
