Your Opportunity:As an Occupational Therapist working in pediatrics, you will be working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will be responsible for addressing occupational concerns through activities of assessment, treatment planning, intervention, consultation, education and follow-up, based on the child\'s individualized goals, with outcomes focused on enabling the child to perform and participate functionally in their community environments, including home, daycares, and recreational areas to name a few. Using a client and family centered approach, you will provide clinical direction to the child, their families, therapy assistants, and support persons identified as potential agents of change in the child\'s life. You will review clinical referrals, accept, screen and assess client needs from a Occupational therapy perspective in collaboration with other health disciplines in a multi-disciplinary team setting. You will work in partnership with families and community partners as appropriate, to facilitate referrals and services. You will establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues including ECIP coaches, medical staff, and healthcare practitioners concerning documentation, treatment plans, progress and discharge. You will participate in client, family and caregiver education in collaboration with other disciplines, producing and maintaining clinical data, information, electronic documentation and verbal reports to support the delivery of services. The successful applicant practices in alignment with professional standards, ethics, regulation, legislation and AHS requirements. The incumbent will achieve service activity targets and achieve a successful passing grade in observations of clinical practice in the probationary/trial period and annually.Description:As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidence-informed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client\xc2\xbfs physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students. You may also provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program. Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to be self-directed and to effectively work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in clinical and virtual settings. Must possess strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated problem solving, planning, excellent interpersonal/public relations skills, and organization skills. Experience working in collaboration with community partners and program development. Must demonstrate a strong patient/family-centered approach to care. A high degree of cognitive effort is required related to prolonged clinical decision making. A high level of physical effort may be required related to clinical caseload. May be required to maintain a standing position and perform up to a medium level of work (20-50 lbs. handled occasionally) including bending and/or rotation related to client transfers or therapeutic intervention. May sit for long periods of time on small chairs/stools or on the floor depending on the site. Required to bend, pull, lift, perform variable movements and position changes (may be required to assume awkward positions). Initiative and ability to work independently in clinical and virtual settings. Ability and willingness to travel to a number of community sites and client homes as required. Basic CPR required. Able to prioritize work, be an effective team member, maintain confidentiality, commitment to customer service. Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience and/or familiarity with community agencies involved with the target population of clients in Pediatric communities or complex pediatric care. Previous work experience in OT service delivery for small groups/ individual basis, Experience working in Connect Care/eClinician/Meditech and/or EMR is an asset.
