Your Opportunity:As part of Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), the Rehabilitation Oncology team- which includes OT, PT, SLP, TAs and physiatrists- is growing with the opening of the new Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (ACCC). We are looking for experienced and team-oriented Occupational Therapists to join our team. Why choose CCA? Under general supervision of the Manager, the Occupational Therapist will: Triage and screen referrals; manage caseload in assigned areas Assess, develop and implement tailored rehabilitation plans to help adapt to life and functional changes due to cancer treatment. Help patients achieve their goals through targeted interventions. Collaborate with healthcare professionals (includes participating in rounds, family conferences, meetings) Mentor staff and students Co-create and provide educational materials for patients, families and community partners. Educate patients and families on strategies for improving daily function and wellness Collaborate with community agencies to ensure continuity of care Support cross-coverage across inpatient units and outpatient clinics to ensure continuity of patient care. Note: This posting may be used to fill 2 vacancies responsible for: The Intensive Palliative Care Unit (Unit 95) and the Medical Oncology (MO) & Radiation Oncology (RO) Unit 125. Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Hematology Units 105 and 119. All caseloads and hours of work associated with Supportive Care Services positions are subject to change based on operational needs.Description:As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidence-informed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client\xc2\xbfs physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students. You may also provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program. Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:Active Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Certification by first day of work Minimum 2 years of working experience in an adult inpatient cancer care setting Empathy and compassion: a deep understanding of the functional, cognitive and emotional needs of patients with cancer. Experience working with patients undergoing chemotherapy, systemic therapy and radiation therapy Effective interpersonal communication: Ability to connect with patients, families and healthcare teams in various modes of communication (verbal, written, Zoom, email). Experience providing occupational therapy in an interdisciplinary team Experience discharge planning and community resources Experience with wheelchair and seating assessments Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and electronic medical record documentation (e.g., Epic Connect Care) Experience working with Therapy Assistants Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of oncology experience in an urban adult inpatient setting Experience with patients undergoing bone marrow transplant care and hematological cancers Experience with cognitive assessments commonly used in oncology Certified Lymphedema Therapist status (e.g. Klose, Vodder, Norton) Professional development within the last 12 months related to oncology Experience facilitating groups and classes AADL authorizer for mobility aidsPlease note:All postings close at 23:59 MT of the posting end date indicated.Security Screening:A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
