Your Opportunity:

The Allied Health Community Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) is a community based OT whose practice involves health promotion and primary rehabilitation for children and families. As the successful candidate you will be a member of a team that provides Occupational Therapy services to children and families aged birth to 18 years with occupational therapy needs. Services include assessment, collaborative goal setting, consultation and intervention. The program has a strong foundation of collaborative, client-centered and strengths-based practice to address functional concerns. It employs coaching, the Neuro-Relational Framework, Health Change Methodology, and other tools to understand hopes and aspirations, barriers to function, and provision of interventions to facilitate engagement in their home and community. Services are provided virtually as well as in-person. Settings may include AHS clinics and client homes within the Edmonton Zone. This position works in a partnership with Pediatric Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Intervention Program and other AHS providers at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Home Care and Stollery Children's Hospital. This position also provides input into OT service development, planning, and evaluation, as well as support mentoring of colleagues and students

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidence-informed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the clients physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students. You may also provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Required Qualifications:

Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:

Three years' of community based experience working with children 0-18 years of age. Working knowledge of computer applications including word processing, email, internet access and data entry. Ability to be self-directed and to effectively work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Must possess a sound understanding of the community and the determinants of health. Must possess strong assessment, communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated problem solving, planning and organization skills. Experience working in collaboration with community partners and program development. Must demonstrate a strong patient/family-centered approach to care. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience and familiarity with community agencies involved with the target population. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams. Experience working in eClinician/Meditech scheduling and/or EMR is considered an asset.
