Thrive Therapy is currently hiring an Occupational Therapist to join our growing team. This position involves seeing clients on a
Saturday
, a minimum of 2 weekends per month. The number of hours worked is flexible based on the applicants preference.
The successful Occupational Therapist will be hired as a contractor and the caseload will primarily be working with the pediatric and adolescent population (ages 1- 18 years).
There will also be opportunities to work with the adult population, if the Occupational Therapist is interested. However, this is not a requirement and is solely based on the successful applicants preference.

Requirements:
Degree in Occupational Therapy, from an accredited University.
Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS).
Professional liability insurance.
Legal ability to work in Canada.
Criminal background check and vulnerable sector check required.
Responsibilities:
Assess the strengths and needs of children referred for Occupational Therapy, through formal and informal evaluation, as well as consultation with the family and other community partners e.g. school, psychology etc.
Develop and implement individualized therapy programs for each child based on evaluations and re-evaluate progress at regular intervals.
Collaborate with the family, child, and community partners for program development and implementation.
Ability to work independently and complete assessments, reports, and follow-up visits in a timely manner.
A background in some of the following areas: sensory processing, emotional regulation, trauma informed approach to practice, fine motor skills, handwriting, self-care skill development, and developmental and relationship-based approaches to support children and families.
Excellent report writing skills.
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with the child, family, and their team.
Preference given to those with experience working within mental health.
