Department: Regional Rehabilitative Care Program



Site: St. Joseph's Hospital



Shifts: Days



Rate of Pay: $41.58 - $57.99 per hour





The Occupational Therapist (OT) will report to the Manager - Regional Rehabilitative Care Program (RRCP) and provide therapy (in person and virtually) within a regional outreach service, designed to address the rehabilitative care needs in hospital sites across Northwestern Ontario. The Regional Rehabilitative Care Outreach Program (RRCOP) is a service designed to:

Provide access to primary-level bedded (inpatient and Long-term Care) and ambulatory (outpatient) rehabilitative care for clients in communities in NWO, where local OT services are not available or are understaffed; Provide access to specialized rehabilitative care and support for clients, caregivers, and providers in NWO, across the continuum of care, including home and community care, in a shared-care model; Integrate rehabilitative care services through improvements in client coordination and transitions and linking cross-continuum rehabilitation services throughout the region; and Lead a regional rehabilitative care capacity-building strategy.



The Occupational Therapist will work within a regional team while supported by rehabilitation teams within St. Joseph's Hospital. This temporary position will be until March 31, 2025 (with potential for extension).









Qualifications:





Education/Experience:





A degree or equivalent from an accredited Occupational Therapy program Current unrestricted registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) Maintains/updates liability insurance on a yearly basis (as required by COTO)






Skills/Abilities:





Ability to manage a clinical practice in a health care setting Ability to complete analysis, using clinical knowledge, skill and judgement to synthesize assessment information Ability to assess and treat acute and chronic neurological, orthopaedic, and geriatric conditions and psychosocial issues Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to work independently, interdependently, and collaboratively within a model of interprofessional care Ability to develop and maintain respectful partnerships Commitment to excellence and leadership in Rehabilitative Care Ability to lead inter-professional and inter-organizational collaboration, to facilitate an excellent client care experience Commitment to clinical excellence and use of Best Practices Demonstrated commitment to people-centred care approach and principles Ability to demonstrate reflective practice Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to use independent judgment and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information



Assets:





Experience with virtual care technology (i.e. Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), Webex, etc) is an asset Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorization is an asset Memberships in the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) are strongly encouraged



CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Will be required to travel to various work locations throughout Northwestern Ontario and provide own transportation Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
