Occupational Therapy Assistant - Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate
Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
to support our occupational therapy services. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing therapeutic programs designed by licensed Occupational Therapists to help clients overcome physical, emotional, or developmental challenges. Your role will be key in enhancing patients' daily functioning and overall quality of life.
Responsibilities
Assist in carrying out treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
Support patients in performing therapeutic activities and exercises to improve their functional abilities and independence.
Monitor and report patient progress and responses to treatments to the Occupational Therapist.
Educate patients and families on the use of adaptive equipment and home programs as directed.
Prepare materials and maintain treatment areas in compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
Document services provided and patient responses in accordance with organizational and regulatory guidelines.
Collaborate with the therapy team and other care professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach when working with patients of all ages.
Knowledge of basic occupational therapy principles and therapeutic techniques.
Experience or interest in working with pediatric populations is highly desirable.
Ability to follow instructions and adapt to various clinical settings (e.g., home, clinic, school).
Excellent observational and communication skills for accurate reporting.
Familiarity with patient documentation standards and confidentiality protocols.
Certification from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program and current registration/license (as required by province/state).
