As an Occupational Therapist, you will be required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:
Collaborate with Sunshine Learning Centre to utilize occupational therapy and teach sensory regulation skills, daily living skills, and motor skills using evidence-based methods.
Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate individuals' functional abilities, strengths, and areas of need.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, in collaboration with the individual, family, and interdisciplinary team.
Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to address identified goals and promote independence in activities of daily living, work, school, and leisure.
Provide education and training to staff, families, and caregivers on adaptive techniques, equipment uses, and environmental modifications to enhance functioning and safety.
Monitor progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes, documenting interventions and progress regularly.
Stay current with emerging research, best practices, and trends in occupational therapy, participating in professional development activities and continuing education opportunities as required.
Maintain records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to ensure treatment integrity.
Collaborate with outside professionals (e.g., senior therapist, school team, SLP) when it is appropriate and consented by the client's family.
Ensuring overall client satisfaction and well-being during their programming. This includes but is not limited to developing rapport with the client, establishing trust, engaging in motivating activities, and assisting the client through challenging moments.
