Elk Valley Hospital (EVH) is looking to hire an Occupational Therapist to join the rehabilitation team on a Casual basis.




Elk Valley Hospital, located in Fernie, B.C., serves as a crucial healthcare facility for the surrounding community. It provides a range of services, including emergency care, outpatient services, and various medical specialties. Joining us in Fernie you'll play a crucial part in providing assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education to residents/patients and/or their caregivers. Operating within a client-centered approach and as an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, an Occupational Therapist makes a substantial contribution to promote functional independence and enable residents/patients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. An Occupational Therapist provides work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the rehabilitation team in regard to transfer of function.

Casual Employment Opportunity

Embrace flexibility with casual day shift positions, offering a range from zero to 37.5 hours per week.




What this casual position could offer:

Work for all the vacation days and sick days that the current Elk Valley Hospital occupational therapist would have and potentially for the primary care occupational therapist in Fernie/Elk Valley. Additional occupational therapist work in Cranbrook, Kimberley, etc. in these casual pools. There are seven occupational therapists within the EK region - not including Fernie - where vacation and sick days where coverage would be available. Travel from Fernie to other East Kootenay locations is required. Joining us in a casual role opens doors to internally posted openings, providing the opportunity to apply for permanent or temporary part-time or full-time positions.

Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.



Full practicing registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.



Valid Driver's license.
