OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER
Who is an Occupational Health & Safety Manager?
The Occupational Health & Safety Manager is responsible to lead the delivery and approach of the Occupational Health and Safety Program for GoodLife and Fit4Less brands. This includes ensuring adherence to health and safety legislation, public health legislation, life and fire safety legislation and standards nationally. The Manager is responsible for workers compensation claims including the return-to-work program and effectiveness of Joint Health and Safety Committees and hazard identification. The Manager also acts in an advisory role for consultation on safety on company projects and initiatives
What will you be doing?

  • Leads and Maintains Occupational Health and Safety Program
  • Creates and updates Health and Safety Guides
  • Creates content and reviews safety training modules to ensure alignment to updated internal processes, procedures, policies, or legislation
  • Coordinates External Training with vendors identified as required through inspections (i.e. First Aid training, CPR) Maintains Health and Safety Pages on GoodLife Pulse
  • Reviews and Responds to Associate Workplace Injuries
  • Investigates and reports on all Hazardous Occurrences
  • Maintains the safety management system for accurate reporting by recording details of incidents in the appropriate tracking classification
  • Manages workers compensation claims by liaising with provincial Workers Compensation Boards
  • Consults with Associate Relations on return-to-work programs in order to facilitate a safe and successful reintegration into the workplace by recommending strategies to address any barriers by way of accommodations, modifications or specialized trainings
  • Oversees Joint Health and Safety Meetings and Inspections
  • Maintains National JHSC Meeting content
  • Coordinates all Safety Training with third party vendors
  • Assists all Clubs and Home Office in reviewing the Inspection program including: JHSC Inspections
  • Chairs monthly Home Office Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
  • Acts as liaison for Municipal & Provincial Inspections with external parties, and Club Managers in order to resolve findings, ensuring completion of all required orders
  • Coordinates Intake and Response for Health and Safety Queries
  • Responds to email from the Health and Safety mailbox
  • Consults on Fire Safety, Club Safety, WHMIS, CPR/First Aid programs, policies etc. Responds to Critical Response calls by providing live support, and timely information to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Consults with Operations regarding: Covid-19 related code calls

  • Degree or Diploma in Business or Human Resources
  • 3 years in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Certified Safety Professional

Salary Range: $71,000-$107,000
Target Hiring Range: $71,000-$78,200
*The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. The actual starting salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
