Overview

Are you an Occupational Health and Safety professional with expertise in mental health/psychological safety? Do you have leadership experience in identifying and implementing innovative psychological health and safety initiatives that support preventing mental health injuries?

We have exciting opportunities for OHS Consultants in our Consultation and Education Services department within the Prevention Services division. These positions work directly with industry, employers, workers, Health & Safety Associations, and Certifying Partners to reduce risk and keep workplaces healthy and safe through consultation and education.

We have positions available in: Mental Health & Psychological Safety in Consultation & Education Services (CES)

These positions engage with stakeholders to reduce risk and keep workplaces healthy and safe through a consultative approach. These positions will engage with BC stakeholders in two ways: 1) At an industry level; working with industry associations, labour associations, and health and safety associations to develop innovative strategies and resources to prevent psychological injuries; and 2) At an employer and worker level; consulting with individual employers and workers to provide education and support related to workplace psychological health and safety matters with a focus on ensuring employers can achieve sustainable regulatory compliance

WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

  • Consulting with stakeholders to focus on improving Occupational Health and Safety outcomes related to psychological health and safety
  • Providing leadership in identifying and implementing innovative occupational health and safety initiatives.
  • Creating awareness of psychological health and safety with workplaces across BC.
  • Engaging with employers and workers on their health and safety challenges.
  • Enhancing their compliance and helping them build sustainable systems to control their risks.

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone who can:
  • Identify, develop, and implement strategic Prevention services, programs, projects, and initiatives that positively impact workplace health and safety.
  • Act as a technical resource and apply workplace health and safety expertise and knowledge to various stakeholders including Health & Safety Associations, industry, and employers.
  • Promote safety ownership and culture.
  • Build partnerships and networks with industry stakeholders to establish positive long-term relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver OHS safety presentations to various stakeholders with the purpose to educate on key OHS topics.
  • Support employers and workers by providing in-depth analysis and improvement of OHS programs, processes and culture, specific risk control initiatives and innovative projects.
  • Travel overnight in BC.
Your background and experience
  • A university degree in a related discipline
  • You will be required to write a Consultation & Education Services (CES) specific test
  • A minimum of 9 years of health and safety experience such as, but not limited to:
  • Development of risk assessments
  • Designing, delivering, and implementing health and safety programs, including mental health/psychological safety programs or initiatives
  • Conducting workplace health and safety inspections and/or investigations
  • Monitoring and evaluating an organization\xe2\x80\x99s safety performance
  • Participating in health and safety audits
  • Addressing health and safety compliance issues
  • Developing corrective action plans to improve safety performance
