About the OpportunityThe Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia has an immediate opening for up to 2 locum physicians. We are welcoming applications for academic medical staff position(s). The Division provides gynecologic oncology care mainly for the province of Nova Scotia which has a population of over 1 million, about half of whom live outside of the Halifax Regional Municipality. We also provide surgical gynecologic oncology services for the patients of PEI who make up approximately 10 percent of our surgical volume.Our primary site is in Halifax with outreach to community centers for clinical care. The group works collaboratively with radiation oncology, pathology, and genetics within the Nova Scotia Cancer Care Program. Department members participate in the education of medical students and residents and a wide range of clinical and preclinical research with local collaborators in foundational science and epidemiology. Within our Collective Practice, we are particularly interested in provincial quality of care initiatives to ensure equitable access and delivery of care. We currently work in a Collective Care Clinical Model, and within this is a shared surgical practice. The ideal candidate(s) will be flexible and exhibit innovative thinking.Halifax is a growing, dynamic city with a high percentage of residents involved in post-secondary education and health care. The province of Nova Scotia is making significant investments in health care and have implemented many innovative programs and approaches to address the universal challenges faced within the health care system. The term of the locum(s) will commence as soon as possible, and we will work with the successful candidate(s) to provide an appealing term length. It is anticipated that there will be permanent faculty positions advertised in the very near future.QualificationsApplicants require a RCPSC Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology or equivalent. The successful candidates will be required to provide the full scope of gynecologic oncology care including systemic therapy, surgical gynecologic oncology and call coverage.
