The successful candidate has a passion for, and is interested in, discovering and covering compelling stories about life in Northwestern Ontario. Story topics will include community events, schools, school board meetings, arts and culture, band meetings, weather, sports, crime, and breaking news. The individual will be able to quickly get to the crux of the story that highlights impact to the community. We need someone that relishes chasing down a breaking news story and has the ability to relay it to readers as it happens and develops. Community volunteering, a great sense of humour, and a no-nonsense approach are definite assets. Requirements for this position:

• Live in Northwestern Ontario
• At least one year of experience in journalism or communications
• Superior language, writing and editing skills
• Experience with photography and knowledge of editing software
• Flexibility to work a variety of different shift schedules, including nights and weekends
• A willingness to travel
• A valid Ontario driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
• The ability to meet tight deadlines
