POSITION: Nutrition Support Worker-Temporary Part-Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Children and Youth Department Coordinator, The
Nutrition Support Worker
will enhance the delivery of nutritious snacks to clients in SECC's Children & Youth Department. This role ensures that all program sites consistently receive healthy, safely prepared snacks while improving efficiency through a centralized food-coordination system. The Nutrition Support Worker will also support frontline staff by streamlining food processes and improving consistency across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and streamline snack preparation and distribution across SECC after-school program sites.
Plan and develop weekly snack menus that meet nutrition guidelines and program needs.
Ensure food handling and preparation meet safety, nutrition, and efficiency standards.
Reduce operational pressures on frontline staff by creating and managing a centralized food-coordination system.
Complete all grocery shopping and track inventory to ensure adequate supplies.
Ensure all dietary requirements--including allergies, cultural considerations, and special diet needs--are met across all programs.
Collect, manage, and analyze data related to food distribution and program impact.
Build and maintain partnerships with local food-security organizations and suppliers.
Develop a set of recommendations and a sustainable long-term food-coordination plan.
Monitor emerging opportunities related to school food programs and support SECC's readiness to participate.
Coordinate with and train volunteers to prepare and package snacks and/or meals for clients.
Qualifications
OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) or equivalent; Post-Secondary education in culinary sciences, nutrition, food security or related preferred
Experience in program coordination, community services, food security, or related fields.
Knowledge of safe food-handling and nutrition standards.
Strong organizational, communication, and partnership-building skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
Access to reliable transportation, and ability to travel between sites
Data collection and reporting experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Intermediate to Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Knowledge of community resources and referral source
Excellent interpersonal, organization, and time-management skills
Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills and proficiency in the English language
Experience working with the public in a customer service capacity
Ability to work in an environment prone to disruption and ability to multi-task
Vulnerable Sector police check

HOURS AND SALARY:
21 hours per week, flexible hours may be required depending on the needs of the program
$26.45 per hours, as per CUPE 4523 Collective Agreement
This is a temporary position beginning on January 5th, 2026 and ending on May 22, 2026
EXPECTATIONS:
Provide courteous, supportive and professional service at all times to clients, coworkers and community partners
May be scheduled in either Leamington or Kingsville offices
Be attentive to detail and able to meet deadlines
Expected to provide coverage for other positions as required
Work as part of a team and contribute to the smooth operations of the program
Keep accurate and up-to-date program statistics and complete reports
Able to work in a busy and changing environment; capable of multi-tasking and of dealing with constant interruptions
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with clients and other staff
Sensitive to the diverse needs to clients from various backgrounds
Work independently and co-operative in a multi-disciplinary situation
