SCOPE
Reporting to the Director of Care the Nursing Manager is accountable for the overall management of all aspects of care within the facility to ensure quality resident care and compliance with required legislation, standards, regulations and Federal and Provincial Acts. The Nursing Manager works very closely and in collaboration with the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Case Managers and Alberta Health Service (AHS) and Stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery, and transition of residents/tenants.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO;
Responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Nursing Department. This includes the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the administrative and building maintenance activities.
Responsible for input into the development of program policies and procedures; personal supervision and support; resource management; monitors, evaluates and coordinates services with Pharmacy, Recreation, AHS Case Manager, Research Groups as they relate to resident case/ service manager.
Establishes, implements, and monitors the infection control (IP&C) program designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.
Leads in the coordinator and implementation of the best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident/tenant care.
Work with the team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of client specific service plans.
Input into and management of annual budget.
Maintains an activity presence in monitoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident/tenant services.
Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; works with WCB claims and return to work plans.
Leads in the preparation for audits, inspections, investigations and surveys including, but not limited to the continuing Care Health Service and Supportive Living Accommodation Standards, collaborates with the Director in the response and action planning, and implements any follow-up QA required.
Monitor the maintenance of accurate records and reports required by legislation and in accordance with recognized best principles.
Coordinate and serve on the various organizational committees.
Participate in the organizational OH&S program. Role model and provide leadership for safe work practices and behaviours.
Coordinate Program quality Implementation Initiatives, projects and research as identified.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Registration with CCPNA and CARNA.
Health discipline background preferred with mental health or addictions experience an asset.
Recent experience with Managed Alcohol Program (MAP) Program.
Recent experience with Harm Reduction program.
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Basic Cardiac Life Support-Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP.
Knowledge of Alberta Legislative requirements related to Seniors' care.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience within the past 5 years working as a Manager in a Mental Health/Harm Reduction environment.
