Tasks

Administer medications Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing Ensure infection control Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files Take vital signs Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse Serve meal trays and feed patients Make beds and maintain patients' rooms Bathe, dress and groom patients Answer call signals to determine patients' needs Administer first aid in emergency situations

Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination CPR Certificate First Aid Certificate Moving Patients Safety Principles (MPSP) training
