The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Emergency Department is an autonomous, advanced practice nurse who provides
comprehensive, collaborative care to a defined patient population. Reporting to the Director of Trauma &
Pre?hospital, Emergency, Critical Care, Respiratory Services, and NLOT with a matrix reporting relationship to the
Director of Nursing Practice & Learning, the NP works closely with emergency physicians and the interdisciplinary
team to assess, manage, and coordinate care in a fast?paced clinical environment.


EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
Current unencumbered registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class Nurse Practitioner certification in a) Primary Health Care (NP?PHC) OR Adult (NP?Adult) Masters Degree in Nursing Science.
Membership in RNAO or NPAO is required. 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse in a health care setting and/or in the preferred setting e.g., Emergency Department
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Nurse Practitioner experience preferred Active Professional Liability coverage

Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated clinical leadership and strong analytical abilities with knowledge and skills in critical thinking and decision making.
Excellent organizational, assessment, communication, counseling, and teaching skills. Works effectively as a strong team player and able to work independently. Ability to demonstrate empathy while remaining professional and respectful. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education, professional growth and maintenance of clinical competency is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.

Assets:
Canadian Nurses Association certification in Emergency (ENC[C]).

Salary Range: $65.210 to 70.750
