The incumbent will be working on both the Downtown campus and Macdonald Campus regularly.

Student Wellness Hub

The Student Wellness Hub provides a range of health services to McGill students with a focus on awareness, prevention, and early intervention. The Student Wellness Hub has a variety of clinicians that provide one-on-one appointments, therapy groups and other services. Within the Student Wellness Hub, the Healthy Living Annex focuses on health promotion and offers peer support programs for both the Macdonald and downtown campuses.

POSITION CONTEXT

Under the general direction of the Associate Director \xe2\x80\x93 Hub Services, the Nurse Practitioner is an autonomous health professional providing an integrated model of care. Blends in-depth knowledge with the legal authority and autonomy to order and interpret diagnostic tests, form diagnostic impressions, prescribe medication and perform procedures. Demonstrates leadership and initiates change to improve client, organization and system outcomes. Initiates and/or participates in planning, implementing and evaluating programs to meet client needs. Supervises and evaluates Nurse Practitioner trainees on both campuses.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide medical leadership at the Macdonald Campus Health Services Clinic. Develop initiatives to promote health and wellness at the Macdonald campus. Represents the Student Wellness Hub on campus in various settings (e.g. new student orientation)
  • Perform comprehensive physical examination and assessment, order and interpret necessary tests, and perform procedures on a student population in a drop-in and pre-booked appointment clinic setting.
  • Manage stable chronic illnesses (e.g. asthma, mental health), administer age appropriate screening tests (including pap smears and STI testing) within a student population.
  • Collaborate remotely with physicians to manage cases.
  • Serve as a health care resource and promote wellness through individual health teachings with the student population. Focus on building students\xe2\x80\x99 understanding of their health and encourage healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Have a sensitivity towards students\xe2\x80\x99 mental health, and, as needed, provide mental health support and guidance towards resources within the McGill community.
OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

Must possess a Graduate Diploma or Certificate in Primary Care. * Diploma or Certificate in Primary Care.
  • Must be licensed with the O.I.I.Q. (Ordre des Infirmi\xc3\xa8res et Infirmiers du Qu\xc3\xa9bec) and/or A.I.P.S.Q. (association des Infirmi\xc3\xa8res Practiciennes Sp\xc3\xa9cialis\xc3\xa9es du Qu\xc3\xa9bec).
  • Must possess experience in a clinic environment and knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Must be approachable and composed under pressure.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work autonomously and as member of a team in a fast-paced, changing and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Time management skills, organizational skills with a proven ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects within specific deadlines with superior attention to detail.
  • Must have a client-service orientation with a proven ability to receive, retain and clearly transmit information related to health matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to deal with highly sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Proven ability using a variety of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability in a PC environment using MS Office, customized scheduling software, internet search engines and email.

\xc2\xb7 The incumbent needs to remain flexible to adapt to the needs at both the Macdonald campus and the Downtown campus.

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor\'s Degree 5 Years Related Experience with Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree / Master\'s Degree 2 Years Related Experience with Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree

Annual Salary: (MPEX Grade 07) $82,150.00 - $102,690.00 - $123,230.00

Hours per Week: 27 (Part time)
